Steve Hiscox has prepared appraisals on a wide range of commercial properties including rental apartments, retail and office buildings over the course of his career. Since 1997, his practice has focused on the senior living industry. Since then he has personally completed more than 800 appraisals and/or feasibility studies involving retirement and nursing homes across Canada.

Steve has spoken on various topics involving seniors' housing development and investment at conferences in Canada and the US, organized by groups such as the Ontario Retirement Communities Association, American Seniors Housing Association, Insight and Real Estate Forums. He has also conducted seminars in Canada for the Appraisal Institute on appraising seniors housing properties. He is on the executive committee for Senbridge, a division of Goodmans LLP, which conducts annual senior living investment conferences in Ontario and British Columbia.
